Summer Magic

Hearts grow dearer
And heaven seems nearer
Winter dreams come true
O that magic
What wonderful magic
summer can do
Ah, sweet summer.
The lazy days, spent soaking up the sun, weeding the garden, lying beneath the trees to watch the breeze in the branches, or swimming in the river, lake or pool.
Freckles, tans, windblown hair, and sun-kissed hair.
Cool evenings. BBQs. Sun dresses. Watermelon.
 What magic.
As we approach August, I thought it would be fun to list some 'summerish' things that make me happy <3

The blue skies

The skies here are so big and wide; when the rainy season goes and the sun comes out, the blue tone makes you just glow in happiness.

The cool evenings on the porch

That's one thing I miss a lot from our years in the Red house.
Sitting on the porch swing, listening to the sounds of the night, while sipping on tea or eating an ice cream cone.
Sometimes we'd sing, taking a breath to nibble on a Popsicle, while the hot summer day turned into a cool evening, with crickets and frogs joining in, and the gentle breeze blew.

couldn't find a decent pic of our porch

Fruit smoothies and iced teas

On those dry, hot days, a cold mango smoothie really hits the spot.

Bare feet

Ah, nothing says summer like running through lush green grass, or wading through the creek. Sometimes we wander to the river and sit on the rocks, soaking our feet in the cold water

camping

There's nothing like waking up to the sound of birds singing, bacon sizzling, and your body shivering from the cold morning air.
Then you quickly slip on your clothes, unzip the tent door, and poke your head out to see the sun rising over the mountains, a smile coming to your face.
Ah, good old camping...... *wistful sigh*

hiking

Not that we don't hike during other seasons.
But it's the greatest feeling in the world to climb up Silver Star in the early summer, when the mountains are covered in bright flowers, and the grass is green, the skies blue, and the wind cool. <3

Starry nights

So? What's your favorite thing about summer?

  1. I love this. (Except for camping and hiking. I am so not a camper. 😋)

But seriously, I never ever want summer to end ❤️ these things make me so happy. (And I've been thinking of doing a post like this too.)
