Unknown Tag// Miss Me Yet?

Well well well.

LaKaysha has done a blog post! Call out the Newsies! Extry, extry read all about. "Girl ain't dead!"

Ahem. No, in all seriousness, I didn't think I'd ever be on here again. Blogging isn't a priority for me anymore, and no one seems to care about me, my life, or my thoughts these days. But I sort of missed it, so "Here I be! Ain't I pretty, it's my city..." Sorry, that gif got me going. I recently watched Newsies and rediscovered my love for musicals. Honestly, it may even top the 90's Annie.

Anywho, to be perfectly honest, this tag has been in my drafts for so long, I don't even know who tagged me or what the tag is called! So if you'll allow me some liberties, on the grounds of...of..

Yeah, I did it again

Whoever tagged me, wherever you are, I hope you get what is due you, because I cannot thank you when I cannot remember you.

nominate 5+ bloggers

1. Why did you start blogging and why have you kept blogging?

I truly don't know. A lot of my friends were blogging, back when blogging was new and cool, so I decided to give it a try. I found I loved the written language, and that helped me find a way to express myself through words; ah, I am thankful I discovered my passion.
As for the second part do the question, I don't think I am qualified to answer considering how long a break I took. Lol

2. What is your favorite type of blog posts to write?

Hmm... I don't really know. It's usually an assortment of things, like deep thoughts, humor, and entertainment.
I generally enjoy all kinds, since it helps me practice on different writing styles.
I enjoy reviewing movies or books. I think I would do those more often if people liked it.

3. What are your top three favorite blog posts?

4. What are your three favorite things?

Um, I have a lot, so let's just throw some things out there.

  1. Music
  2. Books
  3. Mountains

5. What are your favorite blogging moments?

Hmm... photo dumps are always wonderful to look back one.
I love reminiscing or writing about the past. I think in a way it helps me to cope with my grief, so any moments like that are my favorite.  And example:

6. Describe your personality in three words:
Um... Awkward, deep, quiet

7. What are your top three pet peeves?

  1. Sending me pics of every single meal you eat, even crackers and cheese. I.don't.care
  2. This new fad of disregarding punctuation, capitalization and generally every single rule in the grammar book. It doesn't look cool; it looks like you can't spell.
  3. Wrinkled sheets

8. What is something that your followers don't know about you?

Well, there's a lot that my followers don't know about me, because they only see the side I allow them to see. Hmm.
I can be extremely goofy, or extremely quiet and calm. There is literally no in-between for me.
I also am not tech savvy and have very little patience for cell phones and computers because I literally can't understand them. I also stink at math.

And there you have it! My first blog post in... I don't even know how long.
Please excuse the rushed air of this entry; it has been a long time and may take me a while to get back into this groove.
I have no one to tag, but feel free to do this anyways! If you can figure out the name of this tag. lol

We shall see when I come back! Until then, may the wind be at your back and bacon on your plate, and luster in your hair.

LaKaysha, what are you talking about?

Spiders and Snakes

Hey ya'll! I know it's been...way too long, but hey,

Blogging just isn't a huge priority for me anymore.

First news: I'm flying to New Hampshire in a few days!
As a gift for my 21st birthday, a few of my cousins and some of my siblings surprised me with a plane ticket to NH.
I was completely astonished and blow away by all my wonderful people, and it's been busy, busy, trying to get work and shopping done before the day comes.
Daminika will be flying with me (because we're practically connected at the hip) and we will be gone for three weeks.
 Three weeks off from work!
Which brings me to my little story for the day:
Daminika and I clean houses for a living, as most of you already know, and today we cleaned one of our once-a-month houses.
In this house, there is a son, a daughter, mom and dad, and a boarder. (we think?)
The son has a pet snake and tarantula in his room (YES) and I am always so nervous to enter that danger zone, no matter how much I like living on the edge.
We always have our share of mishaps at this house; Daminika slipped while scrubbing the bathtub and doused herself in bleach or the time I found the tarantula's shed on the dresser and had a mini heart attack.
But today, my friends. Today's incident beats them all.
As I went upstairs and entered that dreaded man-cave, reaching to strip his bed, I glanced at the chest/trunk in the corner.
My heart stopped beating when I saw a three-foot snake draped across the chest.
A snake, ya'll!
For a moment I thought it was fake. (Because of the spider incident) I mean, there is no way there's an actual snake in the room with me, right?
I flew from the room in a state of fear and called softly, "Daminika? Why don't you come take a peek at his bedroom with me?"
Obviously she knew something was up by the sound of my voice and she cautiously came around the corner, looking concerned.
Together we stared at the huge, fat reptile and whispered to each other, "Is it real?"
Then it moved.

Oh, boy, let me tell you. My stomach plummeted straight into my toes, my heart did a little boogie in my chest, and for a split second, I thought for sure I would swoon.
A few choice words came to mind, but I am lady, after all.
As it slithered down the chest and to the floor, we slammed the door shut and I began to squeak, "What'll we do? What'll we do?"
There was a big old crack beneath the door, and I knew that beast would come right through it and dash after me.
Flailing my arms, on the verge of hysterics, I scrambled to find something to shove under the door.
A pillow! A pillow would work!
I snatched up a pillow from the daughter's bed and crammed it into the crack, but it wasn't big enough. There was still at least a four inch empty space.
What now?! (Daminika was calmly watching me hyperventilate during all of this and offered no assistance.)
Running to the boarder's room, I saw a sweatshirt hanging on the desk chair and grabbed it, stuffing it into the remaining hole.
There now. It'll never get away.
But we had to clean that room (it's a GUY'S room, for pete's sake) which was occupied by a wretched serpent on the warpath.
"How did it get out?" Daminika wanted to know. "Someone had to have let it out."
Of course, even in my state of hysterics, I was still forgiving and kind, and willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
 "I'll kill him."
Daminika thought it was all rather funny, watching me wheeze and puff out dire threats to that 'skinny little nerd.' "I'll break his scrawny ankle with my bare hands."
As I struggled to calm my galloping heart and wheezing lungs, I pulled out my phone to text my boss.
In not so many words, I informed her that the snake had gotten loose, I was about to die and under no circumstances would I set foot in that bedroom.
She called me, and as I put the phone to me ear, I could hear the laughter in her voice.

"So the snake is out?"
"Yes." There is a killer snake in the same house as me. I'm dead.
"Are you sure it's out? Did you see it?"
"Yes, we saw it." The panic in my voice doesn't assure you that YES I SAW IT?
"Oh, that's funny... well, I mean, it isn't, but it is."
You're laughing at this? And I suppose hangings are humorous, too.
"Well, it doesn't have teeth, just so you know."
Oh, and that's supposed to make everything better?
She laughed a little at my predicament.
"Can you put a towel under the door? It can get out otherwise."
Thanks for that. I'm going to die. I'm so going to die.

Eventually the son came from school and went upstairs to catch the culprit, amused that I would dare be afraid of a slithering, three-foot vermin. Amused!
You see? This is what I have to live with.

This vacation is really starting to look good, if you know what I mean.

What would you have done?

I'll see you all in a few weeks! maybe....

Life Update// Goat Wrangling

"I'm tired of goin' round and round...."
That's my life song right now, ya'll.
It's been a whirl of activity around here as of late, and no sign of letting up!
I've been spinning on this crazy ride for months now, getting knocked down and mentally thrown around, but I keep getting back up to my feet by sheer will power. *wink*

When life gets tough, be like Little Joe

Josiah is here again, and Felicity is back on her cloud, after being pushed down to the depths of despair when they parted ways.
I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving!
I know I did. <3333333
Grandpa's house was filled with squealing kids, tall rowdy boys, and chattering adults (oh, yes, there were some teenage girls there, too. We don't speak of those noisy creatures. cough.cough)
The smells of turkey, gravy and potatoes made your mouth water, the homey sounds of guitars, laughter and Grandpa's chuckle warmed your heart.
We gathered around the living room and sang hymns of thanks in loud, ringing voices, making my heart spill over with love and happiness, and a few tears even came to my eyes.
It was a very blessed holiday, indeed.

Chancy got his first buck this fall!

The days have been warming up again *noooooooo* but it was cold and crisp for the past few weeks.
My dad and Chancy came home with a decent sized buck (Chancy's first one!) and now we have venison in freezer, waiting to be canned as soon as the days slow down. *HA!*
There's been bridal shower planning filling the days, as well as preparing for the wedding, plus daily tasks that seem to never stop.
The other day Liberty came and got me, saying the neighbor lady was at the door, so being the mature adult that I am, I had to see what this woman wanted, pretending to be wise and chill as I chatted.
It seems Simon got out of his pen again and was in her yard. Dumb goat.
So I slipped on my moccasins and Liberty joined me as we walked down the road to her house, where she had shut Simon up in her own pasture.
We slipped a leash on him and tugged and pulled, but the stubborn animal liked it there.
I would have picked him up and chucked him over the fence, back into our pen, but the neighbor was acting so concerned about how we were pulling at his neck, I didn't think she'd appreciate the sight.
So we took a handful of hay and held it out in front of him, coaxing him along the yard, and it was working great, until we came to the pavement.
He completely flipped, slipping and sliding his hooves along the concrete and freaking out as if he were being led to the slaughterhouse.
Finally I gave up and hoisted him into my arms with a grunt. Thank goodness he's a dwarf goat.
Our neighbor gasped and said, "Oh, dear. You got him? You're all right?"
"Yeah, I'm fine." I answered brightly, as Simon laid his head on my shoulder, gazing up adoringly as his smelly breath engulfed my face and stopped all source of breathing on my part.
Liberty walked alongside me as we made out way back to the road, and as soon as we were out of sight, I moaned loudly, "I'm gonna die!"
The fat animal was heavy and smelled like rotten hay, and I wasn't too keen on the idea of marching down the road with a goat in my arms. #countrygirl
About halfway, I couldn't handle it anymore, and I told Liberty to take him for a second while I caught my breath.
She reached out and I placed him in her arms, saying, "You got him?"
"No."
Here were two girls struggling to hold a fat, wiggling goat in the middle of the road, while people passed by in their vehicles, blinking unbelieving, thinking they must have hit the most redneck town in the state.
At last we managed to get Simon home and in the pen, but my back was SORE.
Word of advice.
If your goat won't move, just toss him over the fence.
The neighbor lady might say it's abuse, but it'll save you a broken back.

To all you animal rights people, that was a joke

Just another exciting episode in the reality show 'A Day with a Dork'. *laughs because that was funny, even if you don't think so*
  AHEM.
Anywho, now that Thanksgiving is over with, Felicity's bridal shower is TOMORROW, and I hope and pray we are ready for it.
Sorry, haven't the time to say much more.
It takes all my energy to drag myself into the computer chair and lift my feeble fingers to the keyboard, let alone rack my fried brain for the right words to say to my adoring public.
*wow. someone needs to just shut up and go to sleep*

As always, in a tearing hurry,
                                                                             LaKaysha
