Harvest Party

Well, I finally got around to uploading my pictures. *weary sigh*
Our group had a Harvest party last month, and we all dressed up (even the boys, for once)
and unfortunately, we ALL forgot our cameras, so the pictures you are about to see are from my cell phone, which has an awful camera.
 Apologies.
I didn't take very many, (again, apologies) but I guess I was too busy enjoying everyone's company. ;)

It was Sunday, and so after church, us girls and my brother went to my grandpa's to eat lunch and get ready.
I did Marita's hair in pin curls, and it turned out very nice... for about three seconds.
I really need to invest in some setting lotion....
But we won't even go there. lol ;)
So I set her hair in pin curls, Marissa's in barrel curls, then did their makeup as well.
Emily came later and I did her hair and makeup, too.
I felt like I was working on set a movie. lol
I finally got around to doing my own hair and makeup, but I don't think it turned out very well.
I was hot and tired, so my heart really wasn't in it anymore, and my fingers just wouldn't work.
 *sigh*
Oh, well.

When we finally were ready, we realized none of us brought cameras!
Shucks....
So we very quickly took some pics with our cells then hurried out the door.

Daminika went as a tree.
Honestly, I don't know what I was.
Never did decide. haha
Movie star? Princess? Bridesmaid?

Isn't he handsome?
United States Navy offcier
I thought his costume turned out very well!
Marita, 1930's, French Resistance
Her hair was already flattening by this, but
she always looks adorable, so it didn't affect her any. ;)

Marissa, 1950's :)
Wish I could have gotten a better pic.
Her hair was quite nice, if I do say so myself. ;)

Felicity, 1990s. ;)
Looked just like my mom did at her age. haha

Emily Sue!
1960's :)
Reminded me of Mary-Ellen from the Waltons

My adorable brother, Chancy.
He went as a logger, based off a local logger we all know. ;)
Never did a get very good pic of him alone. ;)

Roger was a firefighter, Rusty was a detective.
Not very good pic of him, but he's the one in the trench coat. ;)

So much food!

The gals. Missing Shanoah
Kaysha was a doll, by the way ;)

The men. :D
Rusty had already left, so he's not in this pic.
Colten and Kenyon were just cowboys, but I think you could see that ;)

Visiting :)
Cameya came, too.

Not very good pictures.
 I'm so sorry, ya'll. ;)

It was a wonderful party, with plenty of laughter, chatting, and goodness, food!
I'm sorry it's not a very informative post, but haven't time for a nice, long, sob story. ;)

The Country Life

Good morning, everyone!
It's on mornings like these that a person is so thankful to be alive. :)
The sun is shining on the mountains, glistening on the dew-dropped trees in the neighbor's orchard, and the air is cold, nippy, and wonderfully fresh.
Living out in the country has always been my dream and desire.
I have never even considered moving to town, where there is nothing but cars, people, traffic, loud noises, and general annoyance.
Out here the noises we hear are cows, birds, horses, and although we do have a highway along our land, it's nothing like the house I lived in before, where there was constant roaring of engines, night and day.
Our little town generally shuts down by midnight. ;)
I have had people tell me that I live a little too far out for them, and it's all I can do to keep from laughing.
 Me? Far out?
The Big Town is only twenty minutes away, for crying out loud. ;)
I'd actually prefer to be farther out, but things don't always go the way you want, and besides, I really like my view.

Believe it or not, there are mountains behind all that fog. ;)

Sometimes it's so dark, and foggy, a heavy haze over the hills and fields, I feel like I'm in Scotland or Ireland and don't mind a bit.
 And in the summertime....boy.
The sun is bright against the hills, the fields and orchards are green and inviting, and I am so thankful I live here.

This is a different angle, but same view.
I think I took this in the spring?

With our Pacific Northwest weather, the view changes almost everyday, and I love it!
Just a quick little note this morning, to let you know I am alive and well. ;)

                                                                             God's peace,

Favorite Quotes Tag

I was tagged by Felicity for a favorite quotes tag, and even though she stole most of my favorites (rolled eyes) I'll give it a try.  ;)
We may end up with quite a lot, ya'll.
When it's comes to quoting, I'm a walking book of knowledge. ;)
 But anyways, here we go.

I actually remember this from the movie, not the book. ;)
Although I have the books many times, I always hear Miss Stacy's voice saying this...
Good childhood memories, and always a good thought. <3

I didn't name a singer in this one, because I don't have a certain singer I like
the best when singing this song.

I believe it is: 'BE thought a fool'. oops ;)

Love this song and this singer :)

This movie! So full of amazing lines, actors and music.
Gatewood is my favorite character, even though most girls die over
 Matt Damon's character...*rolled eyes*
Need Christmas ideas? This movie is awesome! ;)

This is always a bittersweet line for me, because it make me think of Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and all the other Kings of the Silver Screen.
It's so sad that the days of those old movies are gone.

Beautiful, isn't it? <3

And my favorite line from my favorite book, 'Uncle Tom's Cabin'.
So simple, but filled with such joy, and promise, and peace.
<3

I've got loads and loads more, but we could be on here all day, so I must leave you with only a few. ;)

I tag Marita @ When I Hear Music I Dream

Insecurity: How Wrong It Is

Ok, I'm sure those of you that know me personally are reading the title of my post, and are thinking rather hotly,
"You are insecure!"
Very true. I struggle with insecurity, and I have for quite a number of years now.
But one day it dawned on me, as I pondered my problem.
Selfish, self-centered....that's what it means to be insecure.
Now, don't take this personal; I am only stating a fact.
 Think about it.
When you are insecure, you think everyone is looking at you.
What do they think of me?
I don't want them to think I'm a dumb, awkward girl.
Oh, no, that girl is laughing at me, I just know it!
I can't wear that, people will look at me!

Me, me, me, me.
Notice how when you are insecure, it's all about you?
I don't think we mean to do it, but unknowingly, we are placing ourselves first and foremost in our minds.
You just think about yourself, how everyone is looking at you, and thinking about you.

Lately, when I start feeling like that, I try to bring someone else to my mind, whether it means talking sincerely with the person next to me, or remembering someone in prayer.
It helps to focus on someone else's needs. :)

Another reason insecurity is wrong:
We are supposed to walk with confidence in our Father, knowing that our lives are in His Hands, and we are to be shining His light everywhere we go.

Matthew 5:15
"Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick and it giveth light to unto all that are in the house."

I don't mean we should be proud and haughty.
I believe we are to always be humble.
But we can still place our faith in our Heavenly Father, walk with our chins held high and with the peace that He leads and guides us, and can give us the words to speak, and the actions to display.

That's all it really boils down to, when you think about it.
Anxiety, fear, shyness...He knows our problems, and He can strengthen us and help us to overcome our weaknesses.
 It's His strength, not ours.

Just some thoughts, and I hope I made sense to ya'll. ;)

Wisdom to Warm Your Heart: From Our Favorite Bear

Ah, Winnie the Pooh....
I am eighteen years old, but I will NEVER stop loving that lovable stuffed bear with his innocent air. He is the spirit of all things that is in a child, and a picture of the child in all of us, never failing to warm our hearts with his simple wisdom.
And so, just because we all need a little bit of childhood in our stressful lives, I am sharing some of Pooh Bear's love with all my followers! <3

Anyone else love this bear?
Someday I will buy the books for myself, and the original movies, too. :)

My Bedroom

All right, I finally got around to putting up pics of my room, even though my little sister already posted on her blog...cheater.
Anyways, it's still a working progress, but I am loving it!

My sweet Daddy even insulated the floor!

Painting

And the finished project!

My dad built is an open closet, and re-trimmed the window, door, and floors.

And he built this adorable door! Isn't gorgeous? He picked out the hinges because he knew
all us girls LOVE the look of rustic hinges. <3

Our room is now stacked with boxes, and dressers are lined up against the wall, but I haven't time to post those yet.
And we still need shelves built for our books, ect., so still lots to do.
When we finally get it finished and decorated, I will upload them for ya'll!

1960's

So I finally got around to recreating a period look on myself.
I'd say this actually looks maybe late 1950's, early 1960's.

It is my first EVER attempt at a flick, so bear with me, please. ;)

This look is based on Elizabeth Taylor's look, so I added her beauty mark. ;)

And the finished look. What do you think? How did I do?

I felt like I belonged in 'Hogan's Heroes', (Even though the show takes place in the 1940's. They aren't accurate with the women's fashion AT ALL) and was quite pleased at how accurate it turned out!
*great big grin*
I hope to reenact the 1970's next, but we will have to see. :)

 Till next time!

Currently in My Life

So it's been a while since I did a personal post, and I thought it was time. :)

Life has been pretty busy these days.
My little cousin was brought to the hospital Last Sunday, with pneumonia, to add to her other health problems.
My family and I took the rest of the kids in, and it was a long week, but I was glad to be able to help, and I love my little cousins! <3
We are praying that sweet little Abby will be able to return home soon to her family...

My dad built my sisters and I a bedroom in the garage!
 Yay!
I am loving the privacy of having a real bedroom again, and it's so quiet in the garage, I have been sleeping like a baby. :D
I will post pictures when the decorating and moving in is truly complete. Patience, please. ;)
We still have to buy some bedding, curtains, and a rug, and Daddy hasn't finished the shelving we want for our books, ect.
But it is working progress, and still quite cozy. :)

I've been trying to train my hair to be less greasy and skip the shower every once in a while, but it can be hard.
I can't stand having dirty hair, but it is getting easier to handle, and baking soda massaged into the scalp works for dry shampoo.
I try to skip a shower at least twice a week (I usually shower every day) but sometimes I just feel to gross to do it. ;)

My current favorite songs:

Work Through My Hands, Lord: by Dennis Weaver

I Still Sing Jesus Loves Me: by Dennis Weaver

Call Me Old-Fashioned: by Bradley Walker

Forever Country: Various artists (It's actually a mix of old country songs)

Currently watched:

The Big Valley

Meet John Doe (LOVED)

Currently read:

Shalako: Louis L'Amour

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

I laughed so hard! This is so me!

Ok, so a few of these of really funny....or maybe I'm just over-tired ;)

Oh, yes, oh, yes. Sherlock Holmes!

This is always my prayer. :)

A good reminder when we are feeling overwhelmed

<3

This one just touched my heart. :) <3
